UV tattoos or blacklight tattoos are a type of tattoo made using a special ink that is visible under an ultraviolet spectrum light (blacklight). Depending on if the ink is white or clear, the healed tattoo can be nearly invisible until it is exposed to UV Light. Scaring from the tattoo machine may occur, and highlight the location of the tattoo. The ink can also be used to enhance standard ink tattoos (see images below). Colors can range from white, blue, orange, green, yellow and purple. Some colored inks may be visible in normal light, but glow brightly under black light.
